Project Overview

Modernising a leading insurance company's underwriting workbench and enhancing user experience to meet evolving industry demands

Project Overview

A top-tier specialist insurance company, listed in the FTSE 100, approached us with a need to modernise their underwriting workbench to keep pace with evolving industry demands. With operations spanning Europe, the US, and Asia, they sought a partner to revolutionise their underwriting process. Our team was tasked with this crucial digital transformation.

Project Approach

We began by immersing ourselves in the insurance industry, particularly focusing on understanding the intricacies of underwriting workbenches. Collaboration with the client's experts was key, involving in-depth workshops and knowledge transfer sessions.

Our discovery phase included a thorough current state analysis and user interviews, which helped us identify pain points and opportunities for improvement. This research informed our development of user journeys, shaping a tailored product roadmap.

We then moved into the design phase, creating functional wireframes and innovative visual designs. A significant part of our approach involved developing a robust design system to ensure consistency and scalability across the platform.

Throughout the process, we maintained a balance between pushing creative boundaries and adhering to the practical needs of the insurance industry, ensuring that each design decision supported business objectives and user needs.

Project Outcome

The result of our efforts was a notable transformation of the underwriting workbench. We replaced outdated elements with a fresh, intuitive user interface that significantly improved the user experience.

Our initial presentations to stakeholders were met with enthusiasm. That was followed by more positive feedback from underwriters which validated our approach and design decisions, giving us the green light to move forward with development.

Our design system proved to be a valuable asset, unifying the visual language and streamlining future updates and expansions. This systematic approach not only enhanced the current platform but also set the foundation for future developments.

The project is currently in production, and we're working closely with development teams to ensure the execution aligns with our design vision. This collaborative process allows us to address any challenges in real-time and make necessary adjustments to maintain the integrity of the user experience.

The revitalised underwriting workbench successfully blended modern design principles with the practical functionality required in the insurance industry. While the full impact is yet to be measured as the product rolls out, the positive response from the client's underwriting team and the improved efficiency in their daily operations are early indicators of success.Outcome
